We started out swaddling our newborn with receiving blankets. It quickly became difficult because she could kick out of them. I think they were 30X30. I found this one online and decided to try it out. It worked so well we bought another. The only problem is that she is now 8 weeks old and began to kick out of it no matter how tightly we wrapped her. And believe me, we were expert “swaddlers!” I ended up pulling out the Swaddle Me (small) that we got as a shower gift. It didn’t work well in the beginning, because I think she was too small (7lbs.) It works like a champ now. So, for the cost, I would recommend trying the Swaddle Me first. But this works very well and comforted her to sleep MANY times!

Thought this lightweight blanket was a great idea as we live in Phoenix and it’s warm in the house, even with the air on.
The blanket is REALLY large, which I thought would be good, but it’s just too much fabric and it’s hard to work with for a good swaddle. The material, linen like, is slippery and comes undone easily. That said, last night my baby was crying a different than usual cry (10 weeks). I went in and the entire blanket was off of his body but the fabric around the neck was still on him and was covering his mouth and was snug on his neck-needless to say I was mortified. I can’t ever use this blanket for swaddling again. It was an awful experience. We have the kiddopottumus swaddler, really like it, it’s a bit warm for the summer. I just ordered the woombie-the USA one has a lighter summer fabric and it’s made in the US.

These blankets are a little too warm since it is a flannel-type material. When you follow the swaddling directions, it is like having 5 flannel blankets on top of her (count the layers), and when we unwrapped her she was all sweaty, even in the AC. We had to make sure the AC was on 70 degrees every night. She slept better when swaddled so we didn’t mind paying the extra $$ on the electric bill every month.
I love the size of these blankets, they were perfect for swaddling. But if you are not a good swaddler they will break free of it, I know because she would break out when my husband wrapped her but not when I did.
This blanket is also really cute, I would have to say our baby did look really sweet when wrapped up in this blanket.
The blanket was soft when I first got it, but with several washings they are becoming rougher. I stopped using them and moved on to the miracle blanket which is made of a thin cotton material. It is not as cute but it is much more practical.

This is a nice big blanket that can have many uses but as a swaddle I find it difficult because it is so big….and I find other blankets too small so maybe I am just not a good swaddler. Our son can easily get out of this swaddle no matter how tight I attempt to make it. I prefer the kiddopotamus swaddle that velcros….he hasn’t gotten out of it yet and that gives me peace of mind at night. These blankets are very cute though and I will use them for other purposes.

This is a lovely blanket, and our new little girl loves to be swaddled at night. We registered for one of these blankets and ended up buying it ourselves when we didn’t get one. It’s very soft and a good size; however, the swaddling instructions being attached is just a gimmick in my opinion. You can buy equally nice blankets for a lot less money and get swaddling instructions from many baby books, online, from the neonatal nursing staff at a hospital or birthing center, or from your doctor or midwife. You really don’t need a special blanket to swaddle as long as the blanket is big, and, once you learn how, you don’t need instructions attached to the blanket.
